Being a kid is hard, yes that is true but being an adult is even harder. When we are young there are tons of lessons in life we are shown, but for some reason, the true meaning of those lessons do not hit us until we are in our adult years.

If you are anything like me you were IN LOVE with the Shel Silverstein book Where The Sidewalk Ends when you were a child. I still consider this book, even now to be one of my absolute favorites! Rereading it now I notice so many more things I would never have thought twice about as a child. Take a look at some of the quotes by Shel Silverstein below and really let them sink in, I bet by the end of this you too will be thinking “OMG HOW DID I MISS THAT?”

3. Underface

Underneath my outside face
There’s a face that none can see.
A little less smiley,
A little less sure,
But a whole lot more like me.

4. Losing Pieces

Talked my head off
Worked my tail off
Cried my eyes out
Walked my feet off
Sang my heart out
So you see,
There’s really not much left of me.

or wise man can decide
What’s right for you – just listen to
The voice that speaks inside.

If we had hinges on our heads
There wouldn’t be no sin
‘Cause we could take the bad stuff out
and leave the good stuff in.
