According to a recent report, President spent Tuesday evening at the White House quietly having dinner with a man who played an integral role in one of our nation’s more recent historical turning points.

The U.K. Daily Mail reported that Trump invited former Navy SEAL Rob O’Neill — the man who reportedly killed terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden — and his wife to be a special guest for dinner at the White House.

The visit was confirmed by a selfie O’Neill posted to Twitter of himself and wife Jessica on the South Lawn in front of the White House.

Our readers most certainly recall reports of the May 2011 operation that saw vaunted special forces outfit SEAL Team Six — of which O’Neill was a member — conduct a daring night raid into Pakistan to kill Bin Laden in his “secret” compound. O’Neill is credited with firing the fatal shots that ended the Bin Laden’s reign over the terror group Al Qaeda.

Although President Barack Obama did thank O’Neill, it doesn’t appear that he invited him or any other member of SEAL Team Six to the White House to honor them for their great work in protecting the nation from the terrorists who wish to inflict great harm.

An ABC report at the time of the raid noted that Obama did travel to Fort Campbell, Kentucky to meet with the members of the elite Special Operations team and personally thank them for their efforts.

That trip came a day after a widely publicized visit to Ground Zero in New York City — site of the Twin Towers that had been brought down by Bin Laden’s group in 2001 — where Obama took part in a wreath-laying ceremony and met with firefighters, police officers, survivors and family members of some of the victims of that fateful attack.

There is no word yet on what was discussed during Trump’s dinner with O’Neill, who was an outspoken supporter of the president during his candidacy.
