RWC News Furious President Trump Reaches Final Straw: No More Obamacare Exemptions For Congress

President Trump is furious with the Republican Congress that promised to repeal and replace Obamacare for seven years.

Still seething with anger, as many Americans were too, President let Congress know that he was done playing nice. The president made it known the time has come to either start fixing, replacing, repealing, or any other adjective about ObamaCare, the health care bill that is harming so many Americans, or he would step in and start doling out the punishment.

Like a stern father dealing with petulant children, President Trump took to Twitter this weekend to express his annoyance, disappointment and how he will begin to act if they do not clean up their act:

“If a new HealthCare Bill is not approved quickly, BAILOUTS for Insurance Companies and BAILOUTS for Members of Congress will end very soon!”

“Don’t give up Republican Senators, the World is watching: Repeal & Replace…and go to 51 votes (nuke option), get Cross State Lines & more.”

Not done issuing warnings to the Congress, especially Republicans who spent seven years getting elected on the promise that they would “repeal and replace Obamacare,” the president this morning tweeted:

“If ObamaCare is hurting people, & it is, why shouldn’t it hurt the insurance companies & why should Congress not be paying what public pays?”

President has been patient, waiting for the GOP led Congress to send him a repeal bill.

President Trump has called out the ineffectiveness of the GOP Senate, and the whole party, to send him a bill. Multiple times he has reiterated the fact that these same Republicans voted 60 times to repeal Obamacare, knowing that Obama would veto it, but that he is sitting in the White House, “pen in hand” waiting for them to send him the same repeal bills.

Faced with their votes now meaning something, some Republicans have changed their votes, offering little, to weak, explanations as to why. As with many millions of Americans, the president is unwilling to accept these excuses and the utter failure. He is acting like a CEO who was promised a major project would be done for years, then when it came time to deliver, was told “Sorry, I lied.” It’s not going to fly, and there will be consequences.

The culmination of this anger was last Friday, when Arizona Senator John McCain, with seeming glee, voted with Democrats and two other Republicans, who all too often join the Democrats, to stop prevent a “skinny repeal” of Obamacare from going to conference. In conference, the House and Senate could work together to address the concerns of all parties.

Isn’t debating, and working things out, what these men and women were sent to DC to do? This vote is even more egregious considering McCain introduced a repeal and replace bill earlier this year. In his bill, he would supposedly “fully” repeal the unpopular health law, replacing it with a “free-market approach that strengthens the quality and accessibility of care.”

Senate GOP leader, Mitch McConnell, has not delivered on Obamacare repeal.

This is the very reason the conservative based rejected well over a dozen politicians, and chose the newcomer with vast business experience. They wanted there to be consequences to being lied to. They are tired of the representational republic looking more like a oligarchy or an episode of Game of Thrones, where the ruling class eats, and lives, the life of luxury as they dictate to the lowly peasants who are fighting for scraps of bad meat.

The problem-solver-in-chief has much power, thanks to how the Democrats deviously passed this debacle of a “healthcare” bill, and the Congress graciously exempted themselves from its horrible rules. Currently, Congress members, and staff, can avoid as much as 70% of the pain, because their premiums are subsidized by the taxpayer.

This opening is what the president is looking to exploit and to strike back at the privileged lawmakers that refuse to live under the rules they pass.

The grand subsidies are given to Congress by the Office of Personnel Management, which is part of the executive branch led by the president. As a result, he end those generous subsidies which other Americans making this much money do not enjoy.

Florida Republican Ron DeSantis has been imploring the president to make this power play since January, but in a seeming effort to give Congress time to clean up it’s own mess, the president has avoided this threat. That is until now.

Republican Ron DeSantis has implored the president to end Congresses subsidies, then they may act to fix Obamacare.

“If you make them live under Obamacare, my guess is that they will vote to quickly repeal Obamacare,” said DeSantis on the House floor over a week ago.

DeSantis goes on to explain how the Obama administration bailed out Congress, even though the original bill forced them to pay their own way, and deal with the higher, more restrictive insurance they forced upon millions of Americans.

“Obamacare included a provision dropping the congressional health plans for members of Congress and diverting members to the Obamacare exchanges where they would have to pay their own premiums,” explains DeSantis. “Yet an Obama administration regulation gutted this provision and provided lucrative taxpayer subsides for members, thereby creating an illegal exemption for Congress under Obamacare. Mr. President, cancel this regulatory exception.”

Conservative Review’s Daniel Horowitz has also been very critical of the president not using this trump card yet saying, “It’s also troubling that the Trump administration used executive powers to bail out insurers but will not use his lawful executive power to end Obama’s order exempting members of Congress from paying the full Obamacare freight.”

Mick Mulvaney, director of the Office of Management and Budget, says he and the president discussed the fairness of Congress getting huge subsidies while Americans suffer.

On State of the Union, President Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget, Mick Mulvaney, told Jake Tapper he and the president talked about the issue at great length, in particular, the fairness.

“What he’s saying is, ‘Look, if Obamacare is hurting people, and it is, then why shouldn’t it hurt insurance companies, and, more importantly, perhaps, for this discussion, members of Congress?” Mulvaney told CNN’s Tapper. “There is a certain benefit that members of Congress get as part of an OPM decision from a couple of years ago, and I think the president is simply looking at this and going, ‘Is this fair?”

The Senate could fight the presidents call for fairness, but that would take a lot of political chutzpah. If Congress put up a big fuss because the president took away their self rewarded goodies, while the people lose their doctors, have their bank accounts drained, go uninsured and worry every day what will happen if a medical emergency happens, the fury from the electorate will be so intense, every member, even those who thought themselves safe, would fear losing their seat.
