If you are anything like most people chances are you don’t think of yourself as ‘intelligent.’ That being said you most likely are!
While people who get good grades on their tests and do good throughout school may seem smarter they are really dumbing themselves down in the long run. Most of them don’t even think for themselves. There is nothing wrong with being who you are. Intelligence is much more than just getting good grades. It is creativity, imagination, and being true to yourself.
If you are a bit out of the ‘normal’ that society has laid out for you don’t worry. You may be smarter because of it. Check out the things below, if you do these then you are much smarter than you think.
1. You are skilled at showing empathy

You are able to look at both sides of an argument and accept new ideas rather than avoiding them. By being more open minded you are able to take a firm stand on a position and act accordingly with a great foundation under your feet.
Back in 2016, one study actually linked childhood intelligence and openness to experience, this being something that leads to intellectual curiosity later on in life. Being curious is important, it makes you much more likely to learn new things as you go through this life.
We all know someone who thinks they know it all and even when they are wrong they refuse to change their viewpoint. This is just how some people are. In a study by David Dunning and Justin Kruger found that the less intelligent you are the more you overestimate your cognitive abilities.
Comedians have been found to have higher than average IQs when compared to average people. This could be because funny people are more witty and creative.
Introverts have been found to be more intelligent on average. This is because the brain works differently for introverts than it does for anyone else.
You stay up late and cannot help it no matter what you try, this is not as bad as you might think. Research has found that people who go to bed later are smarter than people who go to bed earlier.
Napping according to one study can make you smarter because it boosts your memory and learning capabilities. If you take naps you are already ahead of the game.
Yes chewing gum can make you smarter. It has been found to boost brain function and helps some people concentrate better. Smart people seem to realize this and enjoy gum frequently.
You see, there are a lot of things that make us stand out when it comes to intelligence that we normally wouldn’t stop to even think about. If you do any of the things listed above it is because you are already highly intelligent. No sense is being unaware of your potential, and if you don’t do the things listed above maybe you should give them a try.
