CNN’s Jake Tapper came under fire for saying that the phrase “Allahu Akbar” is “beautiful” immediately after the terror attack in New York City. The media critiqued him hard for this, and now Jake Tapper is denying that he said it. Here is exactly what was said:
“The Arabic chant: Allahu Akbar, God is great — sometimes said under the most beautiful of circumstances, and too often we hear of it being said in moments like this.” Jake Tapper denied that he was calling the phrase beautiful, and insisted he was just saying the ‘circumstances’ were beautiful. And if you aren’t able to tell that difference on your own, than you are a huge liar.
“Another lie, this time from the Washington Times’ @ckchumley, claiming i said something i never said. Just a blatant lie. There was a time when one could tell the difference between Fox and the nutjobs at Infowars. It’s getting tougher and tougher. Lies are lies. The adjective “beautiful” modified the noun “circumstances.” Not the Arabic prayer. Not sure if you’re dim or purposely lying,” tweeted Tapper angrily.
The outlet Daily Caller slammed him back. “The story is objectively true by even the strictest journalistic measure, caught on tape, in fact,” they wrote on twitter.
“Any rational viewer or reader is likely to take Tapper’s words here as an attempt to launder “Allahu akbar,” just an hour after the attack, just seconds after a CNN correspondent said it was used in conjunction with the killing of his American countrymen, for what we could assume at the time,” wrote Daily Caller editor-in-chief Geoffrey Ingersoll. Who do you think is lying. Check out the video for yourself.
