Ever since Trump started running for office, the authoritarian left has been determined to ruin his reputation. To do so, they’ve created a number of conspiracy theories. Their most popular conspiracy theory is that Trump has connections to Russia.
Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) is one of the main Senators responsible for the conspiracy theory that the Trump administration has unethical ties to Russia. Apparently, this may be to distract from the fact that he’s the one that actually has a relationship with the country. In 2012, he got millions from a Russian tech company.
According to reports, Warner has made over $6 million in Russian tech company Yandex. Yandex, based in Moscow, is the largest search engine in the region. That’s like getting paid by Google. By getting this much money from Russia, it’s possible that Warner opened himself up to a conflict of interest. He may be using the conspiracy that Trump is working with Russia to cover up his tracks as a way to not get caught.
The conspiracy that Trump colluded with Russia was circulating long before he won the election. Many liberals spread it to try and stop him from getting elected. They claimed, without evidence, that Trump worked with Russia to win the 2016 election. As a result, Trump and his associates are being investigated by Congress. However, Trump has made it clear that he doesn’t have any personal connections with Russia and so far, no one has brought forward evidence showing otherwise.
What’s worse, not only is investigating Trump and his administration a waste of money, it’s also being used by liberals like Warner as an excuse to obstruct the Trump administration’s agenda. According to Warner, since he thinks Trump worked with Russia, he won’t allow the appointment of Sigal Mandelker to the Treasury department. That’s because he first wants to examine the finances of former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort, former adviser Roger Stone, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and ex-foreign policy adviser Carter Page to look for any conflicts of interest, and vowed to not do anything “[u] ntil we get [their documents] .”
The documents that he’s referring to are one’s he requestedfrom the Treasury Department. “We’ve made a request [for the financial documents of Trump associates] , to FinCEN in the Treasury Department, to make sure, not just for example vis-a-vis the President, but just overall our effort to try to follow the intel no matter where it leads,” he explained, adding, “[this is because] you get materials [from the Treasury Department] that show if there have been, what level of financial ties between, I mean some of the stuff, some of the Trump-related officials, Trump campaign-related officials and other officials and where those dollars flow — not necessarily from Russia.” Warner stated that until he gets these documents, he’s “not going to support the administration’s nominee for undersecretary of Treasury finance, for terrorism and finance.” This is because, according to him, “they owe us these [financial] documents first.”
Warner also believes that Trump’s excellent decision to fire the former FBI Director, James Comey, is somehow to the Russian investigation. Specifically, he said, “for many people, including myself, it’s hard to avoid the conclusion that the president’s decision to remove Director Comey was related [to the Russia probe] .”
However, his concern about Comey’s dismissal seems to be based on an ignorance of how the FBI works. Firing Comey doesn’t compromise their investigation into Russia. The FBI’s new director made it very clear that during a recent Senate hearing that Comey’s firing did not impact their work in any way. “The work of the men and women of the FBI continues despite any changes in circumstance, any decisions,” he stated, adding, “so there has been no effort to impede our investigation to date. Simply put, you cannot stop the men and women of the FBI from doing the right thing, protecting the American people, and upholding the Constitution.”
If liberals are really as worried about Russia as they say they are, they would investigate Warner to make sure that he doesn’t have any conflicts of interest as a legislator. However, by only going after Republicans, it’s clear that their investigation is really more about politics than anything else. The left’s wasteful spending must not be allowed to continue. Anyone pushing for frivolous investigations needs to be voted out of office.
