The Obama administration used a discredited dossier of baseless allegations as justification to launch an investigation into Donald Trump. Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey reported to Congress that the dossier was a motivating factor in the decision to start monitoring members of the Trump campaign.
Obama’s good-guy persona is belied by his political machinations. He absolutely violated the rights of President Trump. Former CIA director John O. Brennan admitted this week that the charges mentioned in the dossier were completely unsubstantiated.
According to CNN: “The dossier is a collection of memos compiled by a former British intelligence operative working for political opponents of Trump. The memos purport to describe efforts by Russian intelligence to gather compromising information on Trump.”
The British intelligence officer in question, Christopher Steele, admitted in court that the documents he compiled were never meant to go public and that he was paid for his work by an activist group tied to the Democratic party.
Obama and Comey purposefully used presented bad evidence as good in order to harm Trump. American citizens were treated as spies. The fallout from the Russia investigation is still tarnishing the White House.
“I know that there were efforts made by the Bureau to try to understand whether or not any of the information in that was valid,” Brennan told the House Intelligence Committee.
“Do you know whether any of the underlying allegations made in the Steele dossier were ever tested, probed, examined, cross-examined, whether the sources were examined for reliability, credibility?” Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina insisted.
Brennan had no answer.
The previous administration’s failures have turned the country into a global laughingstock. Our intelligence agencies have become so amateurish that Britain has decided to no longer share information regarding the Manchester attack with American agents.
Washington itself has been plagued by intelligence leaks since Trump assumed office. The fact that sensitive information is continually being leaked to the press is a sign that the government is not working as well as it should.
The damning dossier was used to justify an investigation into proposed Trump national security adviser Carter Page.
“I look forward to the Privacy Act of 1974 lawsuit that I plan to file in response to the civil rights violations by Obama administration appointees last year,” Page told. “The discovery process will be of great value to the United States, as our nation hears testimony from them under oath, and we receive disclosure of the documents which show what exactly was done in 2016.”
The Obama gang of crooked officials sidestepped justice. The claims against Page are spurious at best. No one has confirmed that the FBI had any information against him beyond what was contained in the dossier.
The full extent of the damage done by the Obama administration is still unknown. Many of his mistakes are only just struggling to light. The previous president used slick words to disguise his deeds. Trump was ridiculed for his tweets blaming Obama of the spying on him, but it turns out that he was right. Obama was spying on him and who knows how many other Americans.
“I suppose when you don’t have anything really good to say, then you say the next best thing, and I think that’s what (Steele) ended up doing,” Val Gurvits, an attorney for Russian entrepreneur Aleksej Gubarev and his companies told. “If you are an intelligence-gathering expert, then ‘raw and unsolicited’ intelligence really means you have no idea what it is, you didn’t think much about it or check it, and you copied-and-pasted it.”
The Russia investigation is already complicated. It may take years to completely untangle the various threads. It seems, however, that if corruption was involved the guilty party is not President Trump, but Obama and his cronies.
