The Las Vegas massacre showed the United States the absolute worst this world has to offer, but it also showed us the best. There were dozens of heroes who went above and beyond that night to help out their fellow Americans.

Taylor Winston, a 29-year-old Iraq veteran was one of the those heroes. After the bullets stopped flying, Wintson commandeered a pickup truck to help carry the wounded to the hospital, and he is now being rewarded for his heroism, The Arizona Republic reported.

Shane Beus, the owner of B5 Motors in Gilbert, Arizona, gave Winston a free Ford F-150 pickup truck as a way of saying “thank you” for his actions.

“It’s very, very courageous what he did,” Beus explained. “He was willing to risk his life and run back into the storm and help out.”

Beus ultimately doesn’t care what Winston does with the truck, he just wants to show his gratitude to a true American hero, the Republic reported. Winston reportedly plans to sell his current truck and donate all the money to help those who were wounded in the shooting.

KSAT reported that B5 motors put a post on Facebook last Wednesday announcing what they wanted to do, and asking for the public’s help in reaching out to Winston.

Breitbart noted that Winston was given the keys to the truck on Monday in front of a small crowd of journalists and spectators. The event was also streamed live on Facebook.

This was an incredible gesture. There was no politics here, no talk of gun control and no controversies. It was just some business owners who wanted to take a minute to appreciate a genuine American hero who went above and beyond during one of America’s darkest days.

That’s something we all can get behind.

We should all remember Winston’s story. He personifies everything this country stands for, and his actions helped save many lives that night.
