Men these days are taught from a very young age that women are objectified and that it’s essentially okay to use them as we please, breaking hearts and sleeping around like horny rats. This toxic sense of masculinity has also caused men to think that all girls want them, or to be with someone in general. While everyone does want a soulmate, studies show that women are actually happier when they’re single!

A new report from a consumer analyst found that 61% of British women are happier being single versus the 49% of men happy single. The report, conducted by Mintel, found that 75% of women aren’t even searching for a relationship! Mintel found that people who still see being in a relationship as a sign of maturity while 25% still view singles as more grown up than they are. This was found to be strongest in women over the age of 45. 32% of women aged 45060 were found to be happier about being single, as opposed to just 19% of men flying happily solo.

“There’s evidence that women spend longer on domestic tasks than men and I think they also do more emotional work — so they still do more housework and cooking and things as well as more emotional labour,” University of Essex professor Emily Grundy told The Telegraph. Women tend to be better at having alternative social networks and other confidantes, whereas men tend to rely quite heavily on their wives for that and have fewer other social ties,” She continued.

It could be a multitude of reasons that women are happier being single. Whether it is the lack of commitment and effort needed to be put into someone else or the money they’re saving being on their own, we do know one thing: women are happier single! You certainly do save quite a bit of money being on your own too. A Canadian study found that the average cost of love that leads to marriage costs approximately $66,444… That number was accounted for with paying for dates, presents for holidays, restaurant prices, and costs of the wedding, on average.

So the next time you feel lonely and like you’re the only single lady out there, remember that 75% of women actually prefer it! You get to indulge in yourself and the world as a whole instead of focusing on a meaningless relationship. Get out there and do you girls, there are lots of things to do!
