Madalina Cojocari's Mom, Prius Possibly Seen In North Carolina Mountains After Girl's Disappearance
Madalina Cojocari's mother, Diana Cojocari, and her stepfather, were arrested in December on charges that they failed to report the 11-year-old girl missing for three weeks.

The mother of a missing North Carolina girl may have taken a trip shortly after her disappearance.

Madalina Cojocari was last seen getting off her school bus on the Monday of Thanksgiving week. Her mother and stepfather told police that they last saw her on the night before Thanksgiving. They didn't report her missing until after a meeting at her school to discuss her absences.

Diana Cojocari told school officials that she'd bring her daughter to the meeting, but then showed up and said she hadn't seen the girl in weeks.

There are no signs of a missing West Virginia woman. More than a month ago.

Palmiter and Diana were charged with failing to report the disappearance of a child. According to jail records reviewed by, Cojocari is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and Palmiter is not.

The press release said that the police are looking for witnesses to a trip they believe Diana took to Madison County, North Carolina. The suburb of Charlotte is about 150 miles from the mountain region where Madalina disappeared.

A picture of a car with its license plate obscured was provided by police, as well as two selfies taken by Diana in the mountains on a cloudy day.

The release states that one of the family members was in North Carolina. We are looking for witnesses who may have seen this Toyota Prius or white female in the Madison County area between November 22nd, 2022, and December 15th, 2022.

Police previously released a video showing Madalina getting off her school bus at her normal stop, and said they were looking for witnesses "outside her family" to verify her disappearance.

She asked after Madalina, but he said he hadn't seen her.

Palmiter told police that he hadn't seen the girl for a week before he left. He claimed that he asked Diana if she was hiding the girl and she said no but asked if he was. He said he wasn't.

Multiple calls to her mother were made after Madalina missed school for two weeks after Thanksgiving. The girl's home was visited by the school resource officer but no one answered the door.
