Italian football is filled with passionate rivalries based around regionality, success, and in some cases, sharing the same stadium.
Inter Milan and AC Milan have been uneasy neighbours since the former began using the San Siro in 1947, with the Rossoneri having called the stadium home since 1926.
With both teams playing their home games at the famous arena, scheduling means they cannot play in the city on the same day, with derby matches providing some iconic San Siro nights.
Both teams have hinted at the possibility of leaving their famous home in the coming years, with plans over a replacement joint stadium under consideration, as the Derby della Madonnina potentially finds a new stage.

Milan vs Inter in Champions League
Despite their incredible history, the two great Milanese rivals have only met five times in Champions League action, all coming in knockout action.
2002/03 Semifinals
The duo joined Juventus as three Serie A sides through to the 2002/03 Champions League semifinals with a battling 0-0 draw in the Milan 'home' leg.
However, the top scorer in Derby della Madonnina history made the difference in the return match, as Andriy Shevchenko's penalty sealed a 1-1 draw, and Milan progressed to the final on 'away' goals.
The Ukrainian was the hero once more in the final, as he netted the winning spot kick in a penalty shootout with Juventus, after a drab 0-0 Old Trafford showpiece.

2004/05 Quarterfinals
They met again in the quarterfinals in 2004/05, but Carlo Ancelotti repeated his trick in a controversial two-legged tie.
After cruising to a 2-0 'home' win, Milan were leading 1-0 in the return game, before the match was abandoned by the referee, as the Inter fans repeatedly threw flares on to the pitch.
Both clubs condemned the incident, with Milan goalkeeper Dida hit by a flare, and UEFA eventually awarded Milan a 3-0 walkover.
2022/23 Semifinals
Their latest matchup came in the 2022/23 Champions League semifinals with Inter taking a 2-0 victory in the first leg ahead of the second leg on May 16.
Why is it called Derby della Madonnina?
The Derby della Madonnina, also known as the Derby di Milano, takes it names in recognition of one of the city's most famous landmarks.
The statue of the Virgin Mary, on top of the Duomo di Milano (Milan Cathedral) is an iconic sight in the city of Milan, as is referred to by locals as Madonnina, regardless of their club affiliation.
