How many teams have won three Premier League titles in a row? Manchester City complete rare feat in 2022-23
Manchester City secured a third straight Premier League title with two games still to play to be crowned 2022-23 champions.
Following Arsenal's defeat to Nottingham Forest on May 20, City were crowned announced as winners before they faced Chelsea a day later.
Pep Guardiola's side became champions last season by a single point as they dramatically pipped Liverpool to the title despite nearly slipping up on the final day.
That result saw them defend their 2020-21 title which was picked up more comfortably after they finished 12 points clear of second-place Manchester United.
Man City's historic feat now puts them in the same bracket of one of an elite few to win three straight Premier League titles. The Sporting News digs into the history below.

How many teams have won three Premier League titles in a row?
Since the Premier League era began in 1992, only two clubs, including City in 2023, have won the title three times in a row, while Manchester United did it twice.
Manchester United first completed the elusive hat-trick of silverware in 2001 when they beat Arsenal to the top-flight title for a third consecutive season.
Then after failing to win the Premier League for three straight seasons between 2003 and 2006, Sir Alex Ferguson guided the Red Devils to another three consecutive league titles that culminated in a 2008-09 triumph.
Manchester City only became the second club in the Premier League era to win consecutive league titles when they did so in 2019.
Guardiola's side were unable to complete the league hat-trick on that occasion, however, with Liverpool comfortably claiming the 2019-20 title.
How many teams have won three English top-flight titles in a row?
Before the Premier League was born in 1992, the Football League First Division boasted a rich history of successful clubs.
Huddersfield Town were the first to win three straight titles when they finished first in 1923-24, 1924-25 and 1925-26.
After that, Arsenal also won a hat-trick of titles between 1932 and 1935 with Liverpool the next and last to complete the feat in 1984 before the advent of the Premier League.
No club has ever managed to win four straight top-flight league titles in England at any point in history. That will be the task facing Guardiola's side next season.
