Inter vs Milan referee: Who is Clement Turpin?

The white-hot heat of a San Siro derby will decide one of the 2022/23 Champions League finalists as Inter Milan take on AC Milan in a huge semifinal second leg.

Stefano Pioli's Milan were blown away by Inter in the first leg, as first half goals from Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan saw Simone Inzaghi's 'visitors' storm to victory.

Despite a scrappy second half, only one player was cautioned by match referee Jesus Gil Manzano, however, second leg match official Clement Turpin could face a demanding night in Milan.

Here are all the details on Turpin's record ahead of his central role in this crucial Champions League clash between Inter and Milan.

Who is referee for Inter vs Milan?

Clement Turpin will lead a French team of officials at the San Siro, joined by assistants Nicolas Danos and Benjamim Pages, with Stéphanie Frappart confirmed as the fourth official.

Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties will be covered by Jérôme Brisard and Benoît Millot.

UEFA's call to pick Turpin for this game comes as little surprise, based on his continued rise, on the back of taking the whistle in Real Madrid's Champions League final win over Liverpool in 2022.

The 40-year-old has a reputation for being quick to hand out yellow cards in the Champions League this season, with 23 cautions issued, including one instance of a double yellow card equalling a dismissal.

He has already taken charge of Inter and Milan once in Champions League action this season, with mixed results for the Italian duo, at differing stages of the tournament.

Two cautions were dished out, as Inter lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich in the group stages, before he sent off Tottenham's Cristian Romero, as Milan edged past Spurs in the Round of 16.

Romero's double booking is the only player red card for Turpin in the Champions League in 2022/23, but he did send off an irate Thomas Tuchel, as Bayern drew 1-1 with Manchester City, and bowed out of the competition.
