You'll notice that there are far more strengths than weaknesses on any Victor Wembanyama scouting report.
There's a good reason for that.
The expected No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Wembanyama might be the most hyped prospect since LeBron James back in 2003, which is saying something. It's hard not to be drawn to the potential of a 7-footer with guard skills who has shown he can impact both ends of the court at a high level.
One of the few concerns scouts do have with Wembanyama as he looks to make the jump to the NBA is his size. He's got the height and length to succeed at the next level, but his slight frame has been a talking point.
How much does Victor Wembanyama weigh?
According to ESPN, adding weight is a "sensitive topic" for both Wembanyama and his advisers.
Wembanyama is officially listed at 7-foot-4 and 230 pounds. That height would've tied him with Boban Marjanovic for the tallest player in the NBA during the 2022-23 season, but he's 60 pounds lighter than the Serbian center.
Being as tall and slight as Wembanyama isn't unheard of, though. Those dimensions give him a similar build as Wizards center Kristaps Porzingis (7-foot-3, 240 pounds), Magic forward Bol Bol (7-foot-2, 220 pounds) and Kings star Domantas Sabonis (7-foot-1, 240 pounds).
While Wembanyama told ESPN that he doesn't see himself becoming "a really, really big guy," he has reportedly been eating five times a day for five years to "help his muscles keep up with his bones," which is said to have more to do with gaining strength than it does gaining weight.
"The weight will come over time, you know, but the focus on weight is — it's a mistake," Wembanyama's agent, Bouna Ndiaye, said. "I'm 100 percent sure on that. If you put too much weight too quickly on Victor's body — it's not going to last. For sure. He will be injury-prone."
Wembanyama's slight frame didn't prevent him from dominating France's Pro A league as a teenager this season. In 33 games with Metropolitans 92, he averaged 21.6 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.1 blocks while shooting 46.8 percent from the field.
His weight might draw a lot of attention, but Wembanyama has the size and skill to make an immediate impact in the NBA.
