Pascal Siakam All-NBA and max contract: How voting results impact future career earnings with Raptors
Pascal Siakam said ahead of the 2022-23 season that he wanted to be a "top-five player."
The Raptors star didn't quite reach those heights, but he did put together one of the best seasons of his career.
Siakam led the Raptors in scoring with a career-best 24.2 points per game while shooting 48.0 percent from the field. He also averaged 7.8 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks to go along with a career-high 5.8 assists.
Those numbers helped Siakam earn his second All-Star selection. He was in the running for an All-NBA selection, but Wednesday's results revealed that he didn't quite make the cut. While Siakam already has two All-NBA selections to his name, he had a lot riding on this season's results specifically.

How All-NBA voting results impact Pascal Siakam's future contract
Siakam signed a four-year, $136.9 million extension with the Raptors in 2019 that didn't include a player option or team option. He has one year and $37.9 million remaining on his current contract, setting him up to be an unrestricted free agent in the 2024 offseason.
Siakam would've become eligible to sign a designated veteran (or supermax) extension this offseason had he earned one of the following in 2022-23:
- Most Valuable Player award
- Defensive Player of the Year award
- All-NBA selection
Because he didn't earn any of those accolades, Siakam is not eligible to sign a supermax extension with the Raptors this offseason. He now has to earn MVP, DPOY or All-NBA next season to be eligible for a designated veteran contract. The value is the same as the designated veteran extension, but he would also qualify for a no-trade clause because it would be a new contract as opposed to an extension.
According to projections from Spotrac's Keith Smith, here are Siakam's next contract options:
|Season||Designated Veteran contract*||Veteran extension**||Re-sign with Raptors as a free agent||Sign with another team as a free agent|
* Siakam has earn to MVP, DPOY or All-NBA in 2023-24 to qualify
** Siakam can sign a veteran extension in the 2023 offseason
Pascal Siakam career earnings
The Raptors selected Siakam with the No. 27 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He has since blossomed into one of the best players at his position, earning a Most Improved Player award in addition to two All-Star and two All-NBA selections.
Through seven seasons in Toronto, Siakam has made $105.3 million in career earnings. That will increase to $143.2 million at the end of his current extension.
